Here is a great Government 2.0 quote on transparency by the President -

“Democracy requires accountability, and accountability requires transparency.” – President Obama January 2009

Sounds really great, but we will have to wait to see just how open and transparent the government can make itself or be made. Part of what has allowed our government to become the way it is (not so accountable) and to create or contribute to many of the massive problems that we face today is the fact that there has been very little transparency for the past 6-8 years. Hopefully that has ended, but we will see.
