On Twitter I just saw a really great quote from @briancarter and I think that it really helps to sum up what social media is all about. It touches on the what motivates and inspires much of the soical media community….

Brian may be referring to Social Networking actually meaning Web 2.0 / Social Media overall depending on what his frame of reference or perspective is on it. So I would tweek or mash the quote to:

“In Social Media Generosity is a Strategy that Produces Positive ROI”

It is hard to get the particular concept and philosophy captured in this quote across to leaders in the Enterprise 2.0 world because they are so focused on the bottom line, results, and return on investment (ROI). But then again understading a paradigm shift, a new type /set of technologies, and getting the philosophy at the same time is a quote a lot to swallow all at once.
